World Athletics Ultimate Championship:
Established in England in 1880, the Amateur Athletic Association (AAA) became the initial national organization for athletics and began conducting its own annual competition – the AAA Championships. First held in 1850 in Wenlock, England, the annual Wenlock Olympian Games included athletics events as part of its sports schedule. While the main event of this competition was a running race, a variety of ancient Greek sports were also showcased. From 1796 to 1798 (revolutionary France hosted L’Olympiade de la République annually), a precursor to the modern Olympic Games. Athletics events were also featured at other Panhellenic Games, which were established later around 500 BC.
